Trapped

Freedom is never attainable.

If we are blessed enough to feel a semblance of freedom,

we are then naïve to the fact we’ll never have it.

Many aren’t so lucky to even be blessed

Many are trapped.

Born to a society unwilling

to ever truly change.

Constantly judged by others

And ourselves.

Our consciousness bound

by the very fact that we are able to think in the first place

Prisoners of the brain

Do we chase freedom?

We more likely chase happiness,

but who’s to say that’s more attainable

Happiness isn’t possible

within the confines of our mind

When depression reigns

False promise keeps us going

while fear holds us back

Never truly achieving

Because when we do,

we can’t celebrate

We can’t remove ourselves from worry

long enough to realize it’s slowly killing us

Trapping our souls
